A nice service for rescue operations
For a long time now, I've been seeing online vendors for clothing, books, etc. have wishlist services so that folks can buy specifically wanted items as presents for friends and relatives.
I run a small reptile rescue operation and thought that a wishlist for rescues looking for specific supplies would be a terrific service and threw the idea out to some of the online vendors I use.
Reptile Depot bit on the idea and is in the process of creating a wishlist for my little rescue. They are quite willing to make them for other rescue operations as well. Since they are located in California, there might be shipping charges involved for Canadian rescues, but they have kindly waived shipping for me as I am in the US. They have also offered their reduced Club Depot pricing to all donors, even if they haven't bought the membership.
I just thought other rescues might want to know this service exists.:w

That's a tough one, Dunner
Rescuing is a way, way better option than buying a mass-farmed pet store iglet or a wild caught, but it is getting VERY tough to ship iguanas. I'm in the process of rescuing one that is just one state to the right of me, and we cannot get any of the overnight carriers except the US Postal Service to agree to take it, and I'm not happy with their track record of truly getting packages to the receiver overnight. I'm eager to get this little guy or gal but have decided to wait until our current stormy weather is over before trusting the little dude to the post office.
Are you looking for a full-grown adult, a wiggly baby green iglet, somewhere in between, or no strong preference? Iglets, being so small, are much easier to ship but do not handle fall and winter temps all that well since they have no body fat. It can get expensive shipping a full grown iguana because most carriers will charge by the large size of the box, rather than the fact that it only weighs maybe 15 pounds at most. And that's if you can find a shipper who will accept live animals.
I'll put out some feelers and see if I can find anyone in Canada who is shipping and let you know.

I thought so too
So I just had to spread the word. I hope other rescues will take advantage of this kind offer so he gets some decent business out of it.

You should try emailing Candy @ Reptile Rescue http://www.reptilerescue.on.ca ... I don't know if it would be something that she'd be interested in, since we're up in Canada and I don't know how that would work... but it can't hurt to pass the word along
