question for herp breeders

Just curious how you screen potential buyers especially in situations like over the internet where you don't get to meet them face to face. Also, have you ever had to refuse to sell to someone?

My reccomendation would be to simply not sell animals to people unless you know that they are going to have 100% proper care.

We find that in talking to the person you can usually determine if they have knowledge on the animal they want to purchase. We have had a few people that we deemed in our own opinion as not suitable to purchase our stock and just refused to sell to them
Cheers
Les

We here at strictly exotic reptiles say the only way to know is to deal with people and learn for yourself.Personaly you can not trust anyones word as everyone has problems with someone so i say live and learn hopfully all goes well for you.A simple phone call works must of time.

My recommendation would be, dont breed it until you have people to buy it..... at least a group of people that know the basic care, and show the willingness to learn. People breed, get overloaded and sell sell sell because babies eat most of us out of our homes!!

i have turned down a customer that wanted to buy a snake from me. This guy lives down the street from me and told me he used to have a 28 foot ball python that he had to give to reptile world in drumheller alberta..he also asked if my snake a little bci was a redtail, I told him it was just a common columbian boa and he said thats what he though because true red tails were illegal in canada because thier teeth were to long.. Let me tell you it was hard to bite my tongue but explaining things to him would have been like teaching my 4 year old daughter calculas. So i will never sell this clown anything..
