Unhappy Color meanings

Someone on KS told me that when m,y anole is green he is happy, and when he is brown he is stressed. SO......'splain this to me, He can be in the room ALL by himself (w/ exception of the snakes) for hours, and i can come in and he is brown, keep in mind he is on his stick, and the stick is brown.

Is he trying to blend in, b/c i cant see any source of stress for himt to turn brown.

AND can some one tell me how to tell if i have a green or brown anole.
thanx
-Jacob
