I'm getting a gecko tomorrow. My freind is selling it to me for $15 cage and everything. I'm not really a big Gecko fan but he told me he has been mistreting it for a couple of months unintentionally. Like he hasn't been feeding it. Giving it water or cleaning his cage. So I told him to give it to me. He didn't want it anyway if he dies I at least want him to die happy not suffering. I don't know any thig about geckos though. The thing is I don't know what kind it is all I know is that it is kinda agressive and its 10 inches long. If anybody has any advice let me know.

Y do you say that. Are they easy to keep. Or high maintenance. Well are they fun from his size I'm guessing he's an adult.

How bad are their bites. Do they evetually stop biting you if you handle them alot. And what if you flick in the mouth after they bite. My wife tames her parakeet this way.

Don't flick it in the mouth. It's not a beak and it will cause your gecko to become even more fearful and/or aggressive (which can happen to birds too). That is to say IF it's a tokay. Leopard geckos can be aggressive too, especially if neglected, and are more common. You have to have a positive id before any of us can give you husbandry advice other than change the water and spot clean the waste every day. Let us know what you find out. Good luck with him.

As far as i know tokay geckos will be aggressive all there live and don't like ot be handled, if its a golden gecko they like the same, both of these gecko's walk on glass so you have to be careful when feeding etc. so it doesn't escape. and both tokay and golden gecko's are around 10 inchs so it might be one of them?

Well now that I remember my freind told me he doesn't have anny teeth so the bites don't hurt. Don't know if thats possible.

probably not a tokay, then, unless it lost it's teeth somehow. It I'm still guessing it's a leopard gecko. although they do have teeth, when they bite (which, again, isn't very common) they rarely actually bite hard enough to make you bleed. The only case I've heard of is when some guy was testing male scent and behavior to other males. He actually put the scent on his hand and left it there for the gecko to bite. Even then he said it didn't hurt very bad.

Well it was a tokay gecko. It ws black w/ orange spots.Well I gave them to LLL Reptile and now I got a Baby leapord Gecko. He is so cute

I can't believe that a tokay wouldn't hurt if it bit somebody! They can give a really nasty bite. Good choice with the leopard gecko. Let us know if you have any questions.
