i was just wondering if any of you guys have been bitten by a good sized boa, cuz iv never been and im not really worried about it but if it did happen im wondering what to expect? the one in particular the im wondering about is my 3 feet central, cuz she hisses alot when i pick her up out of her tank but as soon as shes out shes really friendly. iv been told its like having 20 hypodermic needles going into me. is it really like that?

I've only been bit by my ball python, and she was just a baby then, but it was like being stabbed with a bunch of tiny needles. Bled like heck too!

I've been bitten by a 4 foot Colombian boa right on the end of my pinky finger, and let me tell you... what you've heard is correct. It hurts like hell, and mine bled for about 1/2 hour.

ive been bit by my 5ft columbian boa before, at first it stings a bit but then the pain goes away, but once they let go and when you start bleeding it will sting so much. Its more of a shock then pain because the boa hits you when you least expect it and it hits u at a speed of at least 130mph!

I have been bit by my 6 1/2 boa a couple of times and it Hurts alot. You can bleed for a while, first all you feel is shock of being bit then you can feel pain. The worst is when they hold on that's when it really hurts all the pressuer of there mouth.

damn that sux, cuz i was bitten from my ball python a couple years ago and i dont remember it hurting that much but it wasnt more then 7 months old. i just hope mine never does that cuz i really hate needles

I was tagged by the 7-8 foot BCI that I was given but am giving back. It was my own fault though. She struck and let go right away. One of the top fangs went deep into my right thumb...I swear I felt it touch bone!! One of the bottom fangs didn't puncture my palm at the base of my thumb but it did scrape it. My thumb ended up VERY bruised and VERY sore. The pain didn't go away for 3 days. The bruise finally went away after a week and a half.

OUCH dude get ready for some serious fun.

I' ve been bitten from baby jungles to teenage redtails to adult blood pythons. To say the truth each time was my fault but each time was a learning experience, although jungles get defensive as babies no matter what, lol.

As for what to expect, loads of teeth wanting to warn you stay away and leave me alone. The main trick is to not left them learn that this effect keeps you away. And if bitten and locked, do not struggle or rip the flesh away from there jaws. Simple grab a dish towel and chew on it till they left go, they always do.........but if you happen to meet that 49 foot retic on the news, make a will while you wait that one will not left go so fast, lol.

Another way of thinking about bites is your boid is simply giving you a kiss, a love nip, lol.

I got bit by my nearly 5 foot male less than an hour ago. I'm gonna have some cool pics posted of the wound soon. It's actually not that bad because he just bit my arm above the wrist then let go without constricting (thank Christ!). I didn't find it hurt at all but it startled me at first. Luckily I didn't act like a total fairy and yank my arm back in panic, that would have been messy. Instead when I rinsed the blood away there were neat rows of punture marks.

This was a classic example of a Stupid Feeding Error. I have a friend over and he hadn't seen my rapidly growing boa for a while so I thought I would take the snake out and bring him downstairs for a quick hello. Well stupid me was warming some rats downstairs at the time but I figured it would be fine (duh!). He got a little lively by the time I got to the top of the stairs but he's often busy when he first comes out. Just before I got to the bottom of the stairs he was reaching out with his tongue going full speed, I regripped him, he came back on me and grabbed a big mouthful of arm. Needless to say I aborted the visit idea and took him straight back upstairs and into his enclosure he went.

I felt a little guilty about the whole thing after because he could have been hurt biting me and had anyone else gotten near enough they could have been bitten instead of me. Lesson learned: don't piss around with them when food is being heated because they can smell it a mile away and they WILL bite you.

the reason it bleeds so much is that there is an anti coaglant in most snakes saliva, and the blood doesnt clot as fast as it usually does, so ou bleed alot.

If you really want to avoid a bite-or-get bit by a red tail,ball python,jungle carpet..ect! your best bet is to get a snake hook!i have never thank god been wacked by any of my bigger boas..and i have had them for years..(oh,one day im sure it will happen,most likely my oun fault!!Human error..)my smaller snakes well,that another story..but the best bet is to be careful,wash your hands, & let the snake know your there.and also use a snake hook if uncomfortable,about reaching in..good luck.

i have been bitten by a couple of adult boas like anyone from 4-8 feet and they don't hurt that much for shock then anything that u thinks hurts but it just bleeds alot a painful bite is a 8 foot yellow anaconda that hurt a bit

I've been bitten twice by my 10 foot female Bci....... always when food was around........ my fault both times. Anyway, the last time ( about 3 years ago ) I got nailed in the elbow....... bled a lot for a minute then quit. MAJOR bruising for about 10 days. The guys I work with thought that I'd been hit in the arm with a baseball bat ! Technicolor bruising ! I just poured some Hydrogen peroxide on it and there were no other problems......... Getting bit by a large snake is never a good experience...... Cheers ! Les
