Red face my tokay geckos are weird

hey people, is there any thing wrong with my tokay geckos? 98% of the time them lay on the ground, i thought tokays love beening on glass and wood. i have some branches and fake plants for them to go on. both of them are eating really good, sud adult size, and not that bity as other tokays. and how old and big will they start to breed?

That is not a normal behavior. They should be climing around or at least hiding vertically or something. Check all you conditons in the habitat.

i have some fake plants on the ground which they always hide under. is that why their always down there or is it because theres also a heat mat? i also use a lamp. i dont know...hmm...atlease they are healthy right? also before i bought them they were pretty skinny does that make any difference? the male hides vertically but only some times.

i hardly ever see my tokay on the ground in his enclosure. he always likes to stay under the heat lamo. but if they like to be on the ground then maybe its just a habit but still sounds a little odd.

Yeah that deffinately does not sound good. When i kept tokays they were in their branches and plants 98% of the time. Im not sure what to suggest doing but that deffinately is not normal.

They are too cold. If they are at the bottom where the heat mat is, you'll need to switch to a heat lamp 24/7. Tokays should spend most of thier time climbing. Also, do you have a UV lamp for them? If not it could cause stress, and stressed animals always act strange. Just a thought.

Well thats the problem right there, theyre cold! Them being aboreal they need heat up there, not the groud. Have you been using a heat lamp all this time or is the gheat pad the only source?

In the winter i put a small heat mat on the side of the tank near where their favorite vertical hide is. just gives them a nice warm spot to hang out, i find they like that better than just the ceramic heaters. I still keep a nightlamp on them, just a red bulb. seems to be working.

Oh ok good, I misread it as the heatpad is your only hot spot.

They need to be kept warmer than 80 dgrs. I would keep them around 86-88 dgrs. Also, do you mist them? If so, how often?
