bran

hey this is a pretty simple question, what kind of bran do i keep my mealies in? the stuff i got is a cereal called ''wheat bran''. its sort of strands of bran. is this good? i also just tossed in some carrot

I used to use oat barn but I licke to mix up the veggies and fruit I gave them as a water supply. apples, carrots, oranges, celery pretty much what ever was kickin around.

we use white or red bran from the balk food store and ad carrots

I also use white and red bran, I also mix in some wheat germ. I always give them fruits and veggies as well. I got big bags of the 2 brans and wheat germ for only $2.50 at the bulk bran store!

At the pet store that i go to they keep them in bran thats very small ..almost looks like sand..and the bran i use is like flakes...its kind of hard to describe

actually when it looks like sand that is the eaten bran it is also an indicator as to when you should add or change the bran

That's roughly the mix I use and it seems to work fine, just started raising my own a month or so ago... have a colonly of beetles, but no second generation Mealies yet.
