carpet
does anyone use carpet in there enclosers and i was wondering if anyone has had any problems with it thankz

I use indoor/outdoor carpet.....so far no probs.
You don't want to use normal carpet, claws and poo will easily get stuck in it. The flat type carpets (low pile) work great tho.

ya thats the kind i have and yesterday i feed my boa and he missed the rat and got his teeth stuck in the carpet and i had a heck of a time getting him off of it im going to get rid of it and find something else and i dont think i would ever recomend someone use it either

I use astroturf for my 6.5 foot boa, and have not had problems with it, except that the type that I bought isn't washable, so I'm going to try a more expensive turf.

I use indoor/outdoor carpeting from homedepot, on most of the snakes I care for at work and its easy to clean, fine to feed on, no problems with it ...

hey kyle..i used carpet for about 2 years, but was more of a pain than newspaper in my opinion. Though, it's easier than others, provided you have a back up piece. good luck man..

I use ESU's Reptile Lizard Liner (green-felt like carpet) - doesn't fray, easy to clean. I just bought a large piece and cut into two pieces so I always have a clean one.

I don't like indoor/outdoor carpet at all. IMHO it cannot be cleaned
well enough, and over time it will eventually have its own collection  It also does nothing for maintaining humidity, and isn't absorbent.
Regular carpet is a definite no-no. It contains harmful glues and chemicals, which can become more of a problem when heated. It is also impossible to thoroughly clean.
I use papertowels, newspaper, or bath towels. Bath towels look a lot nicer since they come in a variety of different colours  Just toss 'em in the washing machine when they are dirty (I never use fabric softener).

Here here Linds. We can, and usually are the 'bigger person' when it comes to ignorance. I agree regarding any types of carpet, be it repti-carpet or indoor/outdoor astroturf stuff. I used them myself for a month and after a short while, regardless of how much I washed them, they continued to smell like urine. If it smells like urine, it's not getting clean enough for me, so out it went.
