I used to have one just like that as a pet when I was a kid. I have pictures ,but do not own a scanner. I fed mine everyday and she got huge. I even fed here a leopard frog once!
Thats one beautiful spider you got there!

We actually housed one of these beautiful spiders on the inside of our kitchen window! Amazing how beautiful a web looks as sunshine is streaming through it!

Alas......the poor house cleaners did get a nasty scare as we forgot to tell them! hehehe

The poor spider did last through the early months of winter but died in the dog days of winter.

But the family remembers him/her fondly.....house cleaners..well thats another story!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen spiders similar to those in shape, only brown with light brown markings on the body. Someone told me the y might be brown widows, are there any other types that look the same?

.

One of those spiders used to live in my ex bf's front porch. Beautiful! We watched it for weeks, until it decided that it wanted more privacy

It used to do this really cool thing when it felt threatened. It would swing back and forth violently in it's web. Cool spider!

Oh that's too bad, Marilyne!

Just to let you know I am sure you made the life of the spider just a little happier!
