This is a subadult male prior to ultimate moult (looking suspiciously like a potential female!)...

WOW!!! Nice to see everyone's appreciation for this fine species!

I got this one as a 'ling for about $40 or so (if I recall correctly) and - despite the prevalent view that species from xeric habitats mature slowly - these guys grow quite quickly when provided with moderately elevated heat and frequent feedings...

I popped an adult male in with a young adult female the other day: Initially, there appeared to be no sign of courtship or aggression between the two and I left them together for the remainder of the afternoon. Upon my return, I discovered that the female had killed and consumed the male (*sob*)! On the upside, hopefully the male transferred his spermetaphore before he became her lunch!

I believe that is one of the common things spiders do that I can appreaciate.....they take what they want then eat the uneeded baggage! hehehehe
