whites tree frogs

Well i just had to share, yet some more new pets in the house the kids each got a whites tree frog, they set everything up themselves(mostly my daughter) with a little supervision from mom, These little guys are so cute. They've already named them Kermit is my daughters and Froggy is my sons if any one has some good info on these little guys we would appericate it. I bought the book Frogs Toads and Treefrogs but would appericate hearing from anyone who keeps these little guys.

hi i keep 4 of them. i got them in a 40 gallon tall tank. I got a large water bowl and lots of mother in laws tonge and drift wood and some other plants but i forgot the name. Mt biggest one eats pinkies sometimes. If u have anymore info please contact me and i can give u a link.

I adore White's and was devasted when my trio of rescues finally died. I had them for 6-8 years and enjoyed every day of it. My best advice, give them water for soaking and swimming!! They adore a nice wide shallow dish for nightly hijinx.

OhioHerper, careful on the pinkies. They don't tend to digest such heavy hits of protein and fat very well and can develop liver disease and blindness from fat buildup in their organs and blood vessels. Once a month or less is okay as long as that's the only food they get that week but otherwise it's way too much of a good thing.

I keep a pair in a 39 gallon lizard lounge with live plants, two water dishes, various hides and some sand blasted grapevine for preches. Make sure if getting live plants that they are non-toxic. Plastic plants are another option. Humidity is around 60-70%. Temperature are in the low 80's durring the day with a decent gradient, and nighttime temps can get as low as 65-70. These frogs may look "cute" when obese but it's not healthy for them, just like us. Watch their weight. I do feed both ONE pinkie once every couple of months, depending on weight. Just don't over do it with any of their food. I've posted this before but take a look at this article on water. The type of water you give them is very important, they're amphibians!

and the calls are very useful for warning you when stormy weather is on the way. These boys are better meteorologists than the pretty people on tv.

Interesting eyespy, mine calls after misting and whenever the vacuum cleaner or hairdryer is around.

I was also wondering how many crix i should be feeding them?, and what other bugs they will eat, that are good for them, thanks everyone for your time, it is much appericated. I have yet to hear them make any noise at all what is the sound they make i'm curious

I have 6 whites, and I feed them crickets, mealworms, silkworms, and very rarely a pinky. I feed mine every 2-3 days, and I usually will give approx. 24 crickets, so that each frog in theory has 4 crickets. I will also gutload my crickets and dust them once a week so that the frogs get the vitamins that they need. They won't start making noise until they are around a year old. Mine love to sing to my alarm clock when it goes off!
