Rats & Chewing?

Is it a good idea to give rats something to chew on? I saw chew blocks at the petstore the other day and was wondering if it was a good idea. The ones that were being sold looked like stained blocks of wood and were supposed to be flavored(veggie sauce I think). I was wondering if just plain pine or birch wood do the trick?

Thanks for input
Bruce

If you wanted to give your rats stuff to chew on thats fine. I'd opt for the plain birch wood over the dyed stuff though.

That is kind of what I thought although I wasn't sure about pine vs birch. That dye can't be good for the rats and hence the snakes.

Thanks
