I have Kenyans, and I absolutely refuse to use sand for the following reasons:

1) Ventilation is extremely poor.
2) Sand retains too much heat.
3) It can dull their scales, get in their noses and mouths, and yes, cause impaction.

That's enough reason for me to use finely shredded aspen. When I get Roseys, they will be in aspen too.

funny I live in New Mexico and travel to Arizona all the time. To the best of my knowledge sand dunes are few and far between and make lousy areas to field herp in.
