Help with PacMan he won't eat!

hi people,

i need help please. I have a male pacman frog that i hace had for almost 2 years now. For some reason he is not eating and i dont know why. I offer him worms a couple times a week but he has shown no interest in eating for like 3 weeks now. I am really getting worried. I do remember last year that I had a similar problem with him no eating but i dont remember it lasting this long!

Can anyone tell me if this is a problem or if it is normal for him not to eat like this.

thanks

d

Pacman frogs often go into estivation, a sort of "awake" hibernation where they stop eating for weeks or even months. As long as he's not losing weight, turning dark colors, or showing stress or illness signs I wouldn't worry too much.

If he should start losing weight than get a fecal exam checked and consider taking him to the vet but odds are great he'll be just fine. My Captain Crunch went off food 3-4 times a year throughout his 26 year lifespan and only twice was it a health issue. Once he got impacted on a huge pothos leaf he bit off while bughunting and another time it was parasites. Most of the time he was just chilling for a few weeks and then he'd eat like mad.

What is your setup?? You should verify the temperature of his tank. My friend as a male pacman frog. When he don't want to eat He puts a light over him for 3-4 days. After this normally he is eating like a pig.

hey Deanna.

I talked to one of the guys in the reptile society who had kept a pacman frog and he said the same thing. More than likely he is semi-hibernating. I wouldn't worry unless he starts losing his weight.

Talk to you later

Please warn your friend not to force the issue, that's a very common cause of obesity and liver disease in pacmen and is a leading cause of early death. It's far better to underfeed than overfeed these guys.
