I just got a ball python eating f/t mice and I need to know are there any other ways to feed a my new guy. I just don't have the nerve to hang a mouse infront of his face. I just start shacking I get scared what can I do? Any info would be great.

Thanks Sean

feeding by hand is asking for an accident ot happen afriad or not, you should get some cheap tongs....they can cost as little as a dollar at a dollar store and use them to dangle to mouse in fron of his nose.

Hey Sean...
Exciting time for you!! There are a few opinions related to feeding and they are all right if they work for your snake!! Most snakes and certainly most ball pythons will feed without the need to 'dangle' the food in front of him. On his next scheduled feeding just place a warm (thawed in a baggie in hot water) mouse in his enclosure or feeding box (whichever you use). Don't be discouraged if he doesn't feed right away. Leave it in over night if need be. Eventually he should feed this way. If he is that rare ball that won't feed this way, pick yourself up some feeding tongs (approx $10.00). Less stress for you and your animal.
Good luck!

I use tongs to feed my snakes and for the extra aggresive ones I wear thick gloves as well(just in case) it works fine. I still jump every now and again but I am pretty sure that is normal because sometimes they will take you by surprise.

Whether you use tongs or not evryone I know still jumps when a snake strykes. I think its the speed they move so fast you can't see you just know they moved. I think iys kinda scary to us to know that something moving so fast at us we can't see it. But snakes still rull!!!
