Question Safe Wax or Varnish..

...There are a couple of similar posts at the moment about using safe paint etc but what is best to use for inside use on a new viv.

I'm just coming to the final stages of my new viv and I really wanted to finish it an in antique pine wax which is what all the doors, fireplace etc in the house are finished in.

Is there something i should be looking for on the tin to make sure this is safe??

Mike...

Is it edible? actually i'd worry about it off gassing, and pine having toxic oils. I wonder if you could use bee's wax instead?

You should definatly do a final 1 or 2 coats with a water based sealant like Minwax or even better use a clear coat of the Bowl and Plate varathane product... Both are available at any home depot, rona, and most hardware store... Ask for the varathane that is good for use on wooden bowls to eat from..
