Ho-hum racer

Here's a southern black racer in a hedge. No doubt feeding on brown anoles. He's still got a little brown juvenile color on his side/belly. Probably the most common snake around where I work. I did find a dor corn and yellow rat today. Corn was pretty- yellow rat was dull. Too bad.

I love racers! Where did you find the rat snakes? I found a yellow rat once but never have found another. I would like to keep one!

Jeff, The yellow rat and the red were both dor's in the parking lots of where I work. (condominium) You should be able to find a yellow since they're still abundant all over FL. If not, get with me. I will have yellows and 'glades later in the year. I have 2 huge yellows I'm keeping now. and 2.2 'glades. I can't remember a yellow rat refusing to eat! They're great.

Great pic. Probably Floridas most common snake. I come across corns and rats from time to time. But it seems like I see racers every day.

Looks like I'm gonna have to follow you to work Mark! Then come back home to Canada with a nice series of bite marks on my arms (from them racers)! Might start a new form of tribal scarring! lol
