Feeding question.

Hi there I have had my white phase albino tiger retic for 8 months and he is 11 months old and is exactly 6ft long and slightly above 4lbs (1800+ grams) I'm went through a pack of mediums and thought I should do 1 more pack of mediums. I been feeding once every 7 days and he takes them like a champ. Well he is almost 2inches in diameter and is now barely showing a lump. And I have noticed he is ready for a meal 2 days later and his feeding response is alot faster and harder hitting the rat I offer, so I stepped it up to every 4 days and considering moving to large rats when these last few mediums are gone. What's everyone's thoughts?

Re: Feeding question.

Just because our snakes want to eat doesn't mean we should feed them every time. I don't keep retics but I do keep other large constrictors. I think an increase in prey size is better than feeding more frequently. A large rat every 7-10 days should be plenty.

Re: Feeding question.

That's fair, they are opportune waters so they will eat whenever they can, I will say he is very healthy, but will go back to 7 days. Finish these out and go up to large
