Light for snakes

Hi. My friend has boa constrictor.
He lives in a plastic bin.
There are no hides, no light. The bin stay in closed cardboard. Cardboard has huge hole for air and stay in 4m in front of window.
There is a log and water.
My friend believes there is no need to provide hides and light for boa constrictor.
Snake eats well but don't grow property. Boa is a bit more than 1 year , he is 89cm and 418 g.

Re: Light for snakes

Yep, overhead lights aren't necessary for boa constrictors. However, a hide box certainly is, and it looks as though the snake is a little too big for the cage. If the snake is left without a hide for any longer, he could stop eating, so you may have to talk to your friend about that.

That's a very nice snake (s)he has, by the way.

Re: Light for snakes

ClockwerkBonnet, the snake is without any hide-box from his birth but he eats regularly.
I am really surprise if that hole above cupboard's door is enough for a snake o_O
Seller said to my friend feed him every 7 days until 5 years. Is that correct ?
