Madu locality Python reticulatus - Squidnugget

He's here! He shed literally as he came through the door so he's all shiny.

Totally blown away by this one.

Now in quarantine so will post more pics in due course.

Re: Madu locality Python reticulatus - Squidnugget

Well in possibly the least surprising retic update ever I'm pleased to say the Squidnugget eagerly took a meal tonight.

Seems a chilled little fella so far. Opened his quarantine tank and he just scented the air a bit and no sign of defensiveness etc. That may of course change in the future!

There's certain snakes I'd leave to settle before offering a feed and certain ones I'd be very surprised if they refused.

Retics and olives are very much in the latter category! But yes, always nice to get something down them.

And thanks all for the comments. He really is a stunner and I'm stoked to have a retic in the collection at last.

One thing of interest is how an SD retic is so clearly 100% retic in looks and attitude. They don't know they're not 20' +! But yet the growth rate is so different - mine is very nearly 1 yo (born 30 May) and is only around 20".

Oh and I have big plans for his Viv so keep and eye out for photos if I manage to pull off what I hope to.

Exactly! I got them in all sizes and in some behaviours they're just all the same! Some being a bit friendlier than others, but al typical retics. It's great!

Re: Madu locality Python reticulatus - Squidnugget

Had squidnugget out briefly whilst I was changing his bedding etc and grabbed this shot on my phone. Pretty happy with how it came out - the eyes! Like little balls of fire.

He is an awesome snake. So chilled. Acts utterly confidently but so so calm.

He looks amazing as well as pissed and locked on. Great photo and I'd never guess that was a phone pic. Man my phone camera sucks clearly I barely get any focus and yours is crystal clear and sharp.
