Fresh shed adult male Dumeril's Boa

My 5' male Dumeril's Boa just shed last night, so we did a quick photo shoot outside to show off his shiny new skin (its pretty hot out so we weren't outside very long).

Here's Andry...

And one from last night.....getting a drink of water after shedding (yes, he needs a new water bowl lol)

Nice! Gorgeous snake. Love the pictures of him on the big rock. Got to love their pattern.

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. What a beautiful animal. What is his temperament like?

He's 4 years old now, and still growing. He finally started filling out nicely maybe 6 months ago. He's about double the weight he was a year ago!

He likes to hiss when I reach in for him, but its a total bluff. He never strikes, and is the coolest snake I've ever had. Total puppy dog.

Oh, and he's right about 8 lbs in weight. 3600g+

Geez. 4 years and only 5'? Ugh. Why does it take so long!!! =P

Nevertheless, I agree completely with the temperament thing. Everywhere I've read about Dum's seems to agree that they are just the nicest snakes around. Mine hasn't showed a single ounce of aggression so far, not even a hiss. Didn't even strike at the cat when the cat paw-slapped him in the face. (And it kinda angered me because I WANTED little Flint to teach the cat a lesson, lmao...)

Sweetest temperaments ever.

Dumeril's are very slow growing, and don't usually hit sexual maturity until 5 years of age, so he's right on track. Most males will top out at about 6', while females will hit 7', although there are exceptions with both sexes. One thing to remember with these snakes is that they get very thick and heavy for their length. I imagine that Andry will put a few more pounds on before he tops out.
