New Camera

I ended up getting the Canon camera with 30x optical zoom and 16.0 megapixels. The rest of the stuff, I don't know what it means. I grabbed an extra battery, camera bag, 8 gig memory card, and 1 year drop and spill coverage for about 300 dollars even.

Anyways, I took a few pictures. I have very shaky hands (from boxing and way back skateboarding jammed my wrists quite a bit). I haven't played with settings or anything.

First photo is the backyard, second photo is the same spot on max optical zoom I think (cant remember). The faucet one was also on 20 something optical zoom and you can see spider web threads which I didn't notice while taking it. And the tree leaves I just like how it looked :P

Dunno how good it'll look when posting, but it looks damn clear on the retina display.

Re: New Camera

Hm, thats disappointing. I guess when I uploaded them it lowered the quality...they don't look nearly as great when they show up here. :-/

Re: New Camera

Heres a few more. I noticed that sending in email, each picture is 3.5 MB. When I upload them they are 25 KB so thats prob why they look so unclear. Anyways, the very last one was at like 140 x zoom (the 30 optical , and the rest digital I guess? ) so its blurry, just wanted to test the realms of the zoom. Also I basically have parkinsons haha so its hard to keep a steady hand.

Re: New Camera

Thanks. They are fuzzier than I'd like because I really have a serious problem with shaky hands. Heres a few more, some with optical zoom, and a few with the max digital zoom to show how far it can reach. Makes going out into nature more exciting because I can see things I wouldn't otherwise be able too. New hobbyyyyyy

This is the island where some black birds were chillen. They swim real close to the surface and pick out fish. No idea what they are called.

Max digital zoom with shaky hands

Another fuzzy little bird haha

The bridge from the trail I was on

And the lightpost (I know I was just testing the limits haha) on the max digital zoom again

Re: New Camera

You could invest in a camera stand.

Re: New Camera

Tuck your elbows firmly into your sides if you're not already doing that. That will steady your camera. Glad you found something you like. Looks good.

Re: New Camera

I have the shakes too, i try to rest either my elbows or the camera on something solid when taking pics, if you csn afford a camera stand then that would be perfect for the job, great pics tho

Re: New Camera

Thanks guys. I already bought a tripod, I just don't like to use it :P I can't be bothered to carry it around and set it down hahaha Also I have serious shakes so the elbow trick doesn't work. Even if my entire arm is supported, my hands still shake. I even tried resting the camera down on my knee, but when I go to take the trigger it usually shakes and makes it blurry haha.

Shakes or not, you will be best to use the tripod on them distance shots mate

You gave me camera fever, went out and bought a second hand FinePix s5800, just need to learn how to get the best out of it. £50 with bag and lenses.

Do you fish that river ?

Lovely photo

Re: New Camera

Thanks, I used to fish the river. Occasionally we get striped bass coming through and what not. I used to fish everyday, now I never go anymore...The other side behind me in the river pictures is a man made canal that runs for about 10 miles with a trail. Lots of wild life (otters, lots of turtles including some monster snappers), snakes, bald eagles (I haven't seen any while there but saw some from the other side of the river looking at the trail , go figure haha). But yea its a nice trail, I think I went a bit early to see any reptiles..was about 6 or 630 when I got there.
