Watermelons & new juvie pen

Had some leftover watermelon this morning, so I gave it to the tortoises. Here's Lobo and Lola enjoying a slice or two.

And here is the revised juvenile outdoor pen for Toby and Moby. I scrapped the turtle pond idea, and this seemed a good alternative for the work already done.

Very nice, just curious what function does the glass over half serve?

lol...you're the second person who has thought that is glass. That is actually a used screen-mesh door, which blocks out some sun and provides some extra shade on that side of the enclosure. Definitely not glass.

The juveniles are approximately 3-4 years old, I did not get them as hatchlings.

The female eating the watermelon is about 5 yrs old (so I was told), and the large male is about 7-8, perhaps more.

So I was the 3rd person who also thought that was glass so I imagined wrong

I don't think that works for green house does it? Wouldn't the heat just find its way to the other half and rise out anyways?

I was wrong anyhow but I bet if it was glass it would be warmer under the glass side. But it's not glass.
