Could.not.resist.
So , I have totally convinced myself that I would not get another snake unless it was one of the Sand boa morphs that I wanted - or a mexican black king.
But today I came across this guy- and his face and colouration got to me.

He's got a bandit mask - and ran away with my heart.
He was labeled as a Hypo Tangerine Honduran
I have my doubts. - he also appears to have a bit of the vanishing trait. (The white is actually orange, my phone just didn't capture is colours)
I like him, I like him a lot. I think I am going to call him sundance kid.. Like butch Cassidy and the sundance kid.
Also - my spare 20 gal . tank is broken will this be an adequate set up untill I can replace it

It has a heat source, and a temp Gage ..
He will be my last snake for a long time- no matter how many others steal my heart. I just don't have the space. I am very happy with the two that I do have c:

Re: Could.not.resist.
Nice!
I have really enjoyed my Tangerine Honduran so far.
The size of the temp enclosure looks fine, but I personally would be drilling a bunch more small air holes in that lid. Also make sure there is a decent temp gradient (hot/cool side), as my Honduran does seem to use my entire 36" wide enclosure to regulate. I have a gradient from mid 70's to mid - high 80's and drops at night by about 5 deg on both sides.

Hopefully in a few day once he calms down a bit I can steal my brothers camera and get some real pictures. These do him no justice.

Re: Could.not.resist.
Wow! He's way prettier than the snake I was sold as a hypo tangerine! One question, though: Are the dark bands gray or black? Hypos have gray bands instead of jet black.
I was sold a female tangerine as a hypo tangerine, but her black bands are black, not gray, so from what I've read, she's not hypo. Hypo means the black is diluted; tangerine means no red versus yellow or red versus white but all orange, though the orange can be of different intensities. However, one of her most recent clutch IS hypo tangerine--orange on gray on orange, all lighter than mom.
Here's a website with some good color pics and explanations of the different morphs and their genetics. Don Shores is a well-reputed breeder in Texas.
I really love the look of yours--he's gorgeous! I can definitely see why you fell in love with him!

Re: Could.not.resist.
Thank you for that info , it helps a lot c: his bands are very grey though the markings on his face are black. I would love to some day breed milks (I actually have no idea if this one is male or female/they had not had it sexed.) male is just my default guess xD
I do love his very distinctive markings though.

Re: Could.not.resist.
Thaks c:
he/she is a bit of an ornery butt though. I had to take it out to put more holes in the bin ventilate a bit better, defiantly more wild than my boa. I did not get bit, but it certainly was putting on a a show. In my hands it wasn't to bad - a bit jumpy but didn't try to strike, the second I put it down it struck at the side of the enclosure. I will chalk that up to still being a bit stressed, and I won't try to handle it again for a few days - but I hope I can work though the bitey/jumpyness.

Re: Could.not.resist.
Yep, mine is pretty active in hand for a couple minutes until he settles down. You just have to be on your A game and have both hands free to handle them. lol
