Enclosure Ideas

Currently, the only thing standing between my DEC permit for these guys, and my gators is the enclosure design I have to provide with my paperwork.

I'm getting 2 dwarf caiman and 1 American Alligator.

I plan on getting all hatchlings.

Would anyone be able to say if they'd be alright housing together at such a small size? They should be all right around the 1 ft mark when I obtain them and I know the Gator will outgrow the caiman pretty quickly but for the immediate time frame, could they be housed together?

If not the two caiman can be housed together?

I've done research on both animals before but I can't find anything to give me good info about this. I've seen caiman kept together.

I've seen caiman kept together with a few alligator snappers.

*shrug*

I was considering getting waterland tubs in the short term and housing them in those for now. Not sure though.

If anyone has enclosure pics, that'd be great.

Requirements for the DEC are that they are secure. Doesn't give me much to go on.

Anyway post pics if you have em' :-)

Re: Enclosure Ideas

I suppose you could house them together for a short time, I prefer housing crocodilians seperately. Hatchlings can be housed in 55-gallon tanks or large water land tubs. If you do house them together, give them plenty of room, and watch for aggression and/or dominance, and feed them well. I would reccomend at least a 100 gallon tank. I would seperate them once they grow about two feet long and move them to their own enclosures.
