I'm a new one...
Hi everyone!!
Not only am I new to the forum, but also to boa ownership.
I work for a carpet cleaning company and one of my customers was leaving for Germany. When I went to the house he had the snakes out on the porch and said hopefully someone would find them in the next couple days.
Being the middle of winter I couldn't let that be. I drove 75 miles to go back and pick up those beauties after my shift.
So, now I have two boas not the same breed(?) and a crappy enclosure he built for them. They are both about 7 feet long.
I've really become quite attached to them and want to provide the best care possible.
I have 3 teen daughters that hold them all the time and (cough cough) even nap with them.
I have so much to learn and hope to gain a bunch of knowledge reading your posts and picking a brain or two every now and then.
p.s. never thought I even liked snakes and am amazed that they actually have individual personalities.
My journey begins

Re: I'm a new one...
Welcome to the asylum
It sounds like they are both in one enclosure? Is this correct?

Re: I'm a new one...
Thanks everyone!!
Yes they are in the same enclosure.
No, they are not the same breed(?)
BUT they have lived in the same space for 7-8-9 years
I know they aren't supposed to be together, but it has been so long it seems wrong to separate them. They sleep entangled together days at a time and bathe together. So against the RULES it seems wrong to separate them.
Am I wrong?

Re: I'm a new one...
Snakes dont have emotional connections, they are together all the time as they are competing for heat/security etc
Peersonally i would separate them at the earliest possibility. It is possible with them being different typres of boa that they may even need different temperatures ir humidity levels but even if the conditions are the same i would still separate them.

Re: I'm a new one...
Thank you Lankyrob.
I thought about that last night and started building a second enclosure today. Should be ready by the weekend.
Sorry the one pic doesn't show good detail because of the lighting I will work on that

Re: I'm a new one...
the right one is a colombian red tail boa or BCI for short the left may be a sirenham or however you spell it? haven't seen many so i could be wrong on the first one.
edit.. there is 2 snakes in the 2nd pic lol.. the left one in the picture with both is the one that looks to be the BCI they both look same to me but im new to boas so im not sure of the locale's coudl help to get pictures of them stretched out so we could see the patterns on their backs a little better..
