So need help with ideas, or experinced tips...

So looking at Wayne's ubber cool Sav enclosures. I was talking on Facebook how cool it would be to get a Sav and have natural setting like that to watch behavior and how expensive that most be. In having this conversation I thought to myself I should think of my boas before I even start thinking of a whole other species to take on. So maybe sink some money into a play yard for them. Then I was thinking it would have to be outside as I have no room for that but Texas temps aren't real boa friendly....but I have this playhouse built like a house back in the day when my kiddos were tots. I would like to convert it to a boa friendly natural environment so they can get out those little tubs and use stretch their legs Ive never built anything in my life haha so this will be interesting, and I know a lot of you build your own enclosures....
I think a door will be the trickiest for me...

its roofed with shingles already..

my pit bull had fun with the flooring..obviously would need to be replaced..





I can stand in it so its pretty big..although Im pretty short lol

so The windows will probably have to be covered but Id like it too be removable for nice days?? if possible...forest floor..Id love real trees but I don't know if that would be possible with boas being heavy bodied and any tree that would stay small enough for this house might too weak...but ya its in its infancy idk how possible/real this might actually be. It'll definitely be an adventure..

If you know any carpenters that owe you a favour then get them in to have a look mate.. Insulation and getting the doors and windows fitted/sealed will be a priority first as there's no point starting anything else incase it rains etc.

With the floor, strip it back to the support beams and start a new floor from there as the existing floor looks well past saving..A good way to seek out cheap materials is by talking to local builders.. Being a scaffolder I see how much materials are wasted on site.. You may be able to get suitable floorboards, windows etc..

as snakey said, replace the floor but id put some vinyl floor down so it can be cleaned easily, framed plexi glass will be you cheapest option for the windows, take a look on your local adverts and second hand sites for a door as you may find 1 that is being chucked out and could get it for nothing.

trees, id use something like a yuka plant, small trees with a strong trunk, failing that, go get a normal trunk, hollow it out and plant some hanging plants in it,
(look at the tree in the following setup):



as for plants, you can use fake vines with real live ivy wrapped around it, get some logs, screw them together and use them as a raised platform (can even have a heat lamp hanging down onto the platform for a source of heat), you could even build a small pond with filter in tere for a drinking and bathing source. hope that gets your mind going

Im pretty sure it will be all me lol I figured my first step would be to rip up the flooring and the kiddy sink. You think I need to layer the walls insulation if I remember correctly we didn't "fill" the walls..maybe I could open it and put some in or lay some on top making another layer of wall... also I have a bobcat with a forklift attachment I could move the house. will probably move it under the group of trees on my property to help with cooling in the summer and maybe protect from wind and such more so in the winter..

nice ideas!! I do want to make a fully submergible "pond" area, maybe in the corner. This is only for exercise a few hrs a week type of thing. I wonder if id have to buy manzinita (sp) logs or if I could use logs from outside.

well..I wanna go all out!! so Im willing to spend a good chunk just don't have it for a one time shopping spree will have to get more and more every pay period or something Im thinking it will be in the 4 figures maybe...unless I can find what Jamie was talking about and someone with "leftover" stuff
