i think i went too big.....

So i have a animal plastics t10 cage i got yesterday and trying to set everything up..... i am using reptibark and eco earth for substrate. the tank is 48w and i ordered a 80w RHP. the hot side and cool side are both reading the same temps. the ground on the hot side is warmer but the air temps are about the same. i am using two acurite digital thermomitors one on each side and the out door sensor ran next to the other one to make sure they are close to the same temps.


Should i have ordered a 40w instead of the 80?

Nope. I use 80w in mine and they are great. The air temp being constant is fine as long as there is a good gradient in the surface temps.

Actually that sounds good to me. This way he can bask directly under the rhp for additional heat and move where ever it pleases yet still be at a decent cool temp.

my dumb *** didnt have the herpstat probe direcrly under the rhp. it moved when i put a hide in there. all is good now. got it glued down so it wont move.
