My new favorite Bothriechis lateralis

I recently acquired this stunner of a snake after seeing it pop up in the classifieds time after time...

These a special vipers that we really don't see to often.

They require low temperatures unlike most other species and because of this they might be a bit of a challenge to keep alive in SA.

It's very hard to capture their blue on camera but I tied my best (most pics came out green because of the flash)...but here are the ones that came out looking goooood... :-?

I hope you enjoyed him...

Regards
Louis.

Beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen a snake with that kind of pastel-like colouration with the company of blue like that. I bet it's a stunner in person! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, congrats Louis! That is one stunning viper...I really love the coloration. We never see them here in the States. I have 4 schlegelii, but I'd sure love to have a lateralis like yours! I hope he does great for you.

Re: My new favorite Bothriechis lateralis

These Eyelashes.... I am going to be looking for a breeder next weekend at Hamburg, do you have any specific care concerns for them? I find all of Bothriechis and Atheris to be beautiful snakes, and I am intrigued by their varying temperments, day to day, beast to beast, they can be very different, so just a little insight would be wonderful!

Re: My new favorite Bothriechis lateralis

Thanks guys ! Appreciate your comments !

These need to be kept as cool as possible. I keep mine between 16*C and 24*C. This guy is an adult that's around 60-75cm at the moment.

@HOThabits, I believe Kimberly (Willow783) would be the best to consult regarding Bothriechis schlegelii (eyelash vipers). I do have some but my experience with them is limited to be honest. I keep them in a racking system with temperatures at the high end of 28*C and 25*C on the cool side. Thus far they've been very easy snakes to work with.
