Cool Some wild reptile and amphibian shots

Was looking through some of my thousands of photos and found some that I thought you guys would like.

Lead Back phase of the Red Back Salamander (fun fact, they are in a group known as lungless salamanders, they breathe through their skin and the lining of the roof of their mouths)

Red Back Phase

Teeny Leopard Frog

Big Leopard Frog

Re: Some wild reptile and amphibian shots

As promised, more photos of the juvenile Gray Tree Frog. I caught him, set him on a flower, and he proceeded to grant me many adorable photo ops. Sadly, that was before I had my Canon, so the photos are a little lacking in quality, not too bad though.

Also some more photos I ran across on my computer...

Adult female Spring Peeper

(when I was younger, I used to successfully raise these guys, as well as Gray Tree Frogs, from tadpole to frog, then release them back to the wild. What a rewarding experience! Makes me want to do it again. You would not believe how adorable little tree-frogs can be when they are little more than 1/4 inch long!)

LOL thanks. I can see how my Canon has spoiled me...my old Fuji really was pretty good for its price, I have to admit.

Another Lead Back phase of the Red Back Salamander

Red Efts (Juvenile phase of the Eastern Spotted Newt. They are dry - like a toad!)

The tiniest little baby!!!

Kayaking this past summer - caught this guy right out of the boat, after some chasing in my kayak. He was racing me in my kayak - and almost won. Then he musked me as a reward.
Northern Water Snake

Big male Painted Turtle, same kayak trip

Frogs really do sit on lily pads!
Small Bullfrog (actually he was pretty big, but compared to the biggest one I've seen (1lb) he looked small to me)

Re: Some wild reptile and amphibian shots

Amphibians are literally everywhere here. Much easier to find than reptiles.

Re: Some wild reptile and amphibian shots

A spectacular Green Frog. Green Frogs normally aren't this bright green, or this metallic. He obviously has some hyper-pigmentation.

Another Green Frog - you can really see how different individuals can look from each other. It took me a while to decide whether these were Mink or Green Frogs at first. This is most likely a female due to the small tympanum (ear drum) in comparison to the eye.

Mink or Juvenile Green Frog - not sure, couldn't see ridges.

Can you spot all 3?
