So I have been puting off buying a heating pad for my tank for one of my tanks (don't worrie the room I have moved my snakes in is fully heated to what they need) mostly bacause the pad and thermostat are so much money at one time and xmas is coming... I was wonding if there's a way to hook one thermostat up to 2 uth!? And if so how in the world would I do so...

Re: heating

Don't do it. If the pad with the probe on it stops making heat the other will cook your snake.

This ^^^ my opinion - if you cant afford to set up the snakes properly and safely, dont get the snakes in the first place. EVERY heating element whether it be a bulb or a mat MUST have a thermostat.

Re: heating

So you have a room heated to 90F ? How about a cool side? Suck it up and buy both.

Re: heating

I'm a little confused ......you say you put it off by buying them ,but now that xmas is close it costs too much money to buy both at once ,so my question is why would you put it off in the first place ? not to sound smart-*** or anything but if you bought a vehicle i'd assume that you'd want to drive it with four wheels right !

Re: heating

If you can't afford the necessary supplies, you shouldn't have acquired the snake first.

Re: heating

i guess I didn't do that post the most clears way I have heating lights for one of the snakes but I would like to use uth heaters for the both of them ... why not put something off if u already have things right the first time? I'm more worried about the light blowing out when I'm not a home. I have had one blow already. But I was home when it happend so I keep the room at about 85. Jus.t so if it happens again it wornt get way to cold...

Re: heating

In my opinion you should only have snakes you can afford to keep. Heat pads and thermostats are not that expensive. What would you do if your snakes needed vet appointments?

Re: heating

There is cheap thermostats on Amazon made for plants but they have the probe and everything and a lot of people use them. Also big apple herp has heat rope which is cheaper and i think works far better than uth and heat tape, and one should be plenty long enough to heat both vivs. im not sure of shipping but without it is still around 40. cheaper than a reptistat or thermostat made by a reptile company

Re: heating

What temp is your room? 80-82 for BPs and you don't need to provide a hot spot contrary to mainstream belief.

I use these (alexknott mentioned them) with Flexwatt. Call up Reptile Basics, tell them what you want and they'll take care of you, they'll even assemble the flexwatt with clips and everything for you for just the cost of supplies.
