Thoughts on this?
So, last night I sent my bf to the petstore to pick up a rat pup for my BP. Somewhere in the conversation, the guy told my bf "if he refuses the food bring him in and I'll force feed him for you."
Just having my bf repeat this to me made me want to punch him in the throat. This is the first snake I've ever owned, but even to me this sounded like a very bad idea. Just wanted to get others' thoughts on this.

Re: Thoughts on this?
do not force feed! if he does not take the food. do not touch him till he eats twice and poops once. i just went through this with my dumerils with frozen. wait a week and offer food again. when the snake is hungry he will take the food. give him time to adjust.

Re: Thoughts on this?
Bad, bad, bad idea all around! Force feeding should only be done as an absolute last resort, and by someone who is an expert in the procedure, which i highly, highly doubt the guy at the pet store is.....

Re: Thoughts on this?
Forcefeeding should be the last thing you attempt when the snake is losing weight to. The extent that concerns are raised for its survival, please feel free to punch the petshop worker in the throat (jk)

Yeah I'm not saying anything because nobody in this thread was there to hear the conversation.

Touche. My wording should have gone along the lines of "I refuse to comment blah blah blah"
When I ran my shop people would tell me all kinds of craziness which usually ended with me trying to offer them some form of comfort. Which may or may not have been the case here.

I know.
Now, about this thread and others like it... I let them go on the boards because I know how it feels to want to vent, and honestly most people you would simply bump into would not give a flying leap one way or the other, so we vent here hoping that at least someone will be interested.
The common denominator that brought us all here is the herps, so we tend to vent to our fellow herp fanatics.

Jake ate just fine. Scarfed the rat pup (live) down in about 5min. Hes a champ. I watched carefully to make sure he didn't get bit in the process.
