Food baby thread!
Show me those food lumps =D
This is pajamas today. He finally ate after about 3 weeks...Pet store didn't have ANY frozen rats, and it would have taken about 6 or 7 of the lives they had to fill him. So we got a guinea pig (For the same price as a feeder rat!), and he snarfed it down like it was cake.

Re: Food baby thread!
Careful with guinea pigs. They become highly addictive to retics. At least from my experiences.

Re: Food baby thread!
good to know!! this was sort of to jump-start his feeding response...i know that they should be fed sparingly due to fat content...

Re: Food baby thread!
PJs looks like he could eat a few more! We've done pig, then you can do a second meal right away of rat since he's in feeding mode.
i should dig up a pic of my BP after eating a huge rat...he looked absurd! lol

Re: Food baby thread!
lmfao, you can see the entire outline of the guinea pig on him this morning xD It was insane to see him scarf it down...I will say this, though, i prefer feeding pigs live as opposed to rats...pigs run away, and don't try to attack the snake >.< (I got him cold first so he wasn't too fiesty).

Re: Food baby thread!
you should switch to thawed! much safer...plus i got really, REALLY scary good at mimicing the animal being alive, and my snakes go nuts for it. It's actually really funny. It's much more fun than doing live feedings.
Plus there's no worry about the snake.
I take some big tongs, and drag and wiggle, and my hubby tries to do it and the snake looks at him like "what is that, what are you doing, freak??" But when i do it they're like OMG that thing is alive, i gots ta eat it!!! hehehe
i've had five different snakes where people were like "that snake will only eat live" and i'm like, ah, a challenge! and every single time i can get it interested in frozen/thawed : )
anyway, i am rambling i know you said it was what they had available. You should give him some more! feed that growing baby! hehe

Usually I do feed F/t, but they were clean out of frozen EVERYTHING, and the live rats were tiny xD We only have one pet store in town, so I try to make due. =3 I think i'm going to get rabbits next time. He's got frozen ones, but they were all giant, so he's going to order me some smaller ones so that I ALWAYS have a constant food supply. No one feeds rabbits out here =3 Pretty sure there are only 3 giant pythons in town.

Re: Food baby thread!
My BP Megatron ate a rat on my first attempt at offering him one. I think the rat was a little too big. Check out the lump.... The next rat will be smaller.

Looks a perfect size to me, what makes you think it is too big?

Re: Food baby thread!
Rouge628, he is right at six months old. Rob, it was the biggest food item that he has eaten, and it was probably the right size. I think it was more of a Holy Cow moment for me then anything.
