water help...

so in my reptile toom, there is a big sink with a hot water/cold water sprouts (used for laundry i assume) well i checked and they are hooked up and water does come out.. i want to put a hose on the cold (end is threaded so i think a hose will fit) and use it in my reptile room for watering/cleaning...

how can i tell if it is safe... i live in town, so all my water come from the same place i know and i use tap water usually for their water and my dogs just wanted to be safe and ask..

Let it run awhile to get any corrosion out.
