Drinking from baster?

Has anybody ever tried to get their BP to drink from a baster like viperkeeper?

I haven't seen my juvenile drink for over a week now and thinking of giving it a shot... but how can I get them to sit still and drink from it?

He's drinking just fine.
He's just not doing it while you watch him.

Do you have water in the tank? Unless your standing over the cage 24/7 and watching im sure he is drinking if hes thirsty. Some of my snakes ive never actually seen them drink from their water but they are healthy and fine.

I figured as much. However, I did buy a little turkey baster for 99cents this morning just incase I ever need one...

It's more for my own viewing pleasure to see her drink, rather than hope she is drinking but not knowing for sure.

If you try to get her to drink out of a baster you will just stress her out. I don't see putting stress on your animal worth the "viewing pleasure"

Some people go years without seeing their snake drink.

Re: Drinking from baster?

I see my snakes drink on occasion - mostly after they've just eaten or if they're hunting for food. had one of them for two years now and I've seen her drink maybe three times.

Re: Drinking from baster?

I have some that i see drink all the time, and some that i have never seen drink. If you're truly worried about hydration....get a hypodermic needle and inject the prey/food item under the skin or into the organs, with purified water.
The snake will swallow the prey item, and the moisture will be taken in as well.

I did this with two starving & dehydrated ball pythons. I've never seen the one drink, but he pees all the time so i know he is. The other one is actually one i see drink every single time he's given fresh water. He'll stare at me, and wait for fresh water, too, the little git.

Anyway, if you're worried, you can do it that way. I wouldn't worry about forcing it any other way though.

Not sure about a baster but my boa loves drinking water droplets from the glass after a nice spray. she does it all the time, almost likea crested gecko.
