Nerodia Sipedon.

Common water snake, cousin to the Garter snake.

Totally harmless, a fishermen by trade, however also known to consume frogs and other amphibians.

Not always found in the water, will sometimes venture into meadows and nearby forests.

One of several members of the Natricine snake group that deliver live young rather than laying eggs.

Re: What kind snake is this?

Thanks so much. I've had another Northern Water Snake on my property, in a different area, for years now. It's an adult though and looks nothing like this little guy, so I wasn't sure.
