Very nice. You should see the Radix that are native here. I love Garters. So pretty.

Sweet! Okay, so are they just lying out in the open sometimes? I am a terrible herper. Do you find that garters have a specific time of day they prefer to be out? Probably different for my climate, but Just wondering.

I lifted the sheet of plywood out of the way, and it just got done raining.

Re: More wild Thamnophis
Great pics. I miss seeing them, I think they've disappeared from my area. There used to be tons.

There was three of them under that board at once.
I lifted that plywood up one night and there were 5 snakes under it.

That's amazing! I spend SO much time out where I should be seeing them, but I've only seen three ever! ha ha
One of my best friends lives in an area where she pulls handfuls of them out of her pond, finds them in her walls, and sees them scurry away with every step she takes in her front yard. It's crazy.

You've seen more than me Aja, I haven't seen any in person at all until I just got my two babies!

I always try and have my camera or at least the cell phone wherever I go.
It's just too bad that those quick glimpses are impossible to photo. when they are hiding like that, they usually sit still whereas out in the open, they flee quickly.

Re: More wild Thamnophis
Good pictures!
I saw 4-5 of them yesterday around my shed in the back yard. My new puppy was trying to go after them. I freaked out and grabbed Bren away. I wish I could have taken pictures one of them was fairly large. I put a few boards down to keep the dogs away from that area now.
