Question about my new diamond python
G'day all!
So I purchased a GORGEOUS 4yr old diamond python 4 weeks ago, and sometimes when I put him on my shoulders and he is close to my ear I hear a faint quick 'whistle' when he breathes in or out. It doesn't happen all the time but I'm a bit worried it could be a lung infection?? His hot spot temp during the day is 27-32 degrees celciuss and his night time gets down to maybe 18. It's autumn now and it's very cold, night time temps outside can get down to 5 deg celciuss. He is eating eagerly very 1 1/2 weeks, he hasn't pooped yet since I got him but I heard it can take a little while for them to poop and if he doesn't within 2 months I will soak him in warm water. Am I doing everything ok?

Re: Question about my new diamond python
Bit hot for a DP mate... Knock it back a few degrees maybe just a top of 28C. What's the temp on the cool side? I take it your in the Southern states to be having those outside temps.
At four years old you can even drop the overnight temps to as low as 15C..... actually better for DPs, they can't be kept like the other Morelia spilotas. They require cooler temps to thrive.

Re: Question about my new diamond python
Yup pics man pics.
Both of my carpets whistle when they climb stuff including me.
No other signs of infection = no worries.
Get a copy of the complete carpet python. Worth every penny and most of your answers will be in there.

Re: Question about my new diamond python
Thank u for ur fast replies! I'm in NSW, I got my boy from a man that does parties with them, like birthday parties, and he is licensed, he told me to keep basking temp ALWAYS around 27-8deg celciuss, even at night, but reading iv been reading up on them and heard that they are cool weather snakes etc, so I will take your advice and other care sheet advice and keep him cooler. I'm relived that his 'whistling doesn't seem to be a problem! I won't b able to post pics until I eventually get to a computer as I am only using iPad and iPhone ATM oh, and I don't hav a thermometer for TH cool side yet but I'm buying one soon off eBay

Re: Question about my new diamond python
You can upload pics from an ipad/iphone to photobucket and then drop em here. Hint hint, wink wink.
In other words, we like pictures!

Instead of a regular thermometer... do yourself a big favour and get a temp gun, they are as low as $25 on ebay (at least mine was).

Re: Question about my new diamond python
Most hardware/big chains have them as well. I think I paid $30 for mine at Home Depot.

In photobucket when you click on the photo it gives you a little box with a number of links in it - if you copy the IMG code and paste it into your post on here we will see the pics here (just dont move the pictures later as this will remove them from here)
