Baking Cork?

Hi, I was wondering if cork can be baked, and if so, what temp and for how long? I want to use a slab as the back drop for the enclosure that I am setting up for my Crested Gecko. Thanks.

Re: Baking Cork?

Why would you bake it? Are you worried about bugs or something like that?

Re: Baking Cork?

Not bugs, but bacteria and stuff. Maybe you guys will think I'm crazy. I got the piece from a pet store because it is a perfect fit for my tank. The thing is, it is not wrapped... they have birds and their dander goes everywhere... I am worried about bringing anything back to my bird so I disinfect anything that comes from a pet store. Maybe I worry too much, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I was thinking that rinsing it with the hose and letting it stay out in sun for a day or two would be okay, but I would rather get it done tonight.
