Gopher snake

On the way back from a vehicle accident I saw this guy and almost caused another one trying to swerve. I got out an kindly escorted him away and snapped a few pics. Good sized, and aggresive.

Sorry Trollbie, still looking for that baby.

Re: Gopher snake

They are all bark. Should of just picked him up. Gophers put on the big show and as soon as you touch them its all flight and no fight...well ...90% of the time. We have one and she has done that exact pose and the hiss is great too.I always just grab her right away before she gets wound up when I take her out of her viv. Complete oposite of all my other snakes that I touch first. The local place I get my feeders insects at had one that was scaring the crap out of the part time Sunday counter guy while I was in there. He was saying" come on man I just want to give you water." So I reached in for him and grabbed it. He was in stiches at the complete turn around in behavior.
Love the pics. Glad you got him off the road.

I did, how do you think he got off the road. "Here boy, come on! That's it..."

I disagree on the all bark. While the bites are nothing to brag about, they have no problem doing it. He was lunging at me a lot, even while I was tailing him. That's why I put up my boot, I was distracting him so I could get in for a picture on a cell phone with no zoom.

Yes I thought you whistled and he came right away.
Unfortunatly we do not have wild Gopher snakes here but even the crasiest CB Gophers seldom actualy strike and like you said they do no damage anyway.

Re: Gopher snake

Gophers are super cute. I'd like to keep one but I'm too paranoid to take anything from the wild
