Getting accurate measurments

I was just curious if anyone can give me an idea of how to measure my red tail. I have a flexible tape measure but I still end up guesstimating. What are some accurate ways you use to get accurate length readings?

Re: Getting accurate measurments

I just actually found an awesome way to do it, I measured all my snakes this way and got accurate measurements.

Serpwidgets - Snake Measurer

I took a picture like this

Basically you just take a chunk of the measuring tape, say 8-16 and list it as 8 inches and then put points along your snake and it tells you how long it is. All my snakes were measured correctly and it was really simple to use. String is extremely annoying to use and if you have snakes like mine just does not work.

Valvaren- that looks like it might be exactly what I am looking for. I wish they made an app for my iphone that would make it all too convenient.

Bradyloach- I am basically doing the string method now, except I am using a body measuring tape. But she just doesn't hold still enough for me to get an accurate reading.

Re: Getting accurate measurments

Personally i just take an educated guess, there is no real need for me to know exactly
