2nd feeding attempt...
Cross your fingers for Penelope!
I got a smaller mouse this time. I threw it in there and she quickly came out of her hide. She's got about a quarter in, but I'm not sure how she's doing because I decided to leave her alone and just quickly peek from a distance.
She definitely seems hungry because she didn't even hesitate. So pray or send some good vibes Penelope's way please!

Re: 2nd feeding attempt...
I hope it goes well Hopefully she'll get it all the way down without any problems this time. Keep us posted.

Re: 2nd feeding attempt...
Ugh now she's underneath the log and I can't see her progress And I'm too paranoid to get too close to the tank right now.
I cannot focus on studying for finals until I know she has that mouse down...

Re: 2nd feeding attempt...
OMG OMG OMG I think she got it in!
I don't see the bulge near her head, but I don't see the mouse either... Can someone please walk me through snake's eating process? I know (or I think I know) that their stomach is a little bit more down, so once they swallow it, does it move farther quickly? Into the stomach I mean. Where should I be looking for the bulge?

Re: 2nd feeding attempt...
The bulge will be somewhat around the midway point of their body. If the mouse is gone, she ate it. Congrats! Now you can relax
Here you can see the stomach is around the mid-section:

Yay! That's pretty much where the bulge is! I'm so happy!
I was expecting her to be resting after she ate, but she's being her active self and climbing all over the tank. That's not gonna make her regurgitate right?

No, she won't regurgitate. She'll settle down eventually. Now give her time alone to digest (I give at least 48hrs).

At the store they said 24hrs. I'm gonna give her at least 48 this time and maybe next time since this is the first time she ate for me, but do you think 24hrs is enough if that's what she was getting before and didn't have issues? She kinda lets me know when she's okay being handled and when she wants to be left alone. So am I safe going off of what she "tells" me?

Personally, I don't go by whether or not my snake can "tell" me if they want to be handled. I'd rather give my snakes the time they need to digest and not bother them for at least 48hrs, and the more time the better. So even though she's been "fine" in the past with only a 24hr digestion period, I'd still go up to 48hrs for her own comfort. I mean, why not give her that extra day? If it's because you want to handle her more, then just make sure you stagger your feeding schedule when your BRB arrives so that one of them is always available.
