Any grudging respect I may have harbored for PETA. (Very little.) Has been completely washed away after reading this article.

I've heard this too...however to be fair, supposedly most of the animals they take in are "rescued" and supposedly too sick to be healed, and are put down for that reason. I do doubt that is the case for that high of an amount though!

Most things in the media are all about the hype. However the worst video i've ever seen in my life, that haunts me, was one taken by an undercover peta person where "they" were skinning minks alive. Supposedly alive because it keeps the fur fresher or something? no clue. I do know it was a real video, and that it was the most horrible thing ever.

I honestly believe that most peta videos are staged to get a reaction and prove a point. It was probably all peta people in that video.

There has been some arguments that they stage those videos in their own facilities (which is horrible)

not saying these things dont happen (they certainly do) but some of the "undercover" stories are insanely preposterous.

Know they didn't it was the Klan. At first i put k-k-k and the auto sensor blocked it.

No surprise, the report has to be submitted every year, how many animals they took in, how many were transferred to other rescues, how many were adopted out, and how many were put down and for what reason (space or health). every year, the euthanisation #'s from this organization are through the roof, and the adopted out/transferred #'s rediculously low.

They were also involved in a lawsuit (don't know how it ended) that claimed they disposed of euthanised animals remains by driving around and leaving them in dumpters instead of paying the cremation fees.

They also put up a billboard here in mainland BC with a picture of a prostitute and a pig, saying "neither of us is meat" (during the Robert Pickton trial). It was gut-wrenching to see that, the province made them take it down pronto, but still........ can we say bad taste

PETA has had some pretty bad campaigns, i think its funny they put out the objectifying women is akin to eating meat shenanigans, ignoring the many sexist commercials... they have a full fledged paid porn website that they're currently working on, just Google it, I wont link it or anything cause I don't want to break any rules.. but its basically your "normal" porn site (i dont even see any anti-animal cruelty type things just a porn site w/ peta all over it..)

They made the comparison because here in mainland BC, a serial killer was killing prostitutes and feeding them to his pigs on his farm in PoCo. It was in extremely bad taste of PETA, considering the families of the women Robert Pickton did this to had to drive by and see this. THAT is why the province made them take it down.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. I am also one who believes that they stagethe nasty stuff that they film. The video that really made me believe that was the one about a baby Cockatoo that was sick and not receiving care or something. They show a worker "flushing the crop" and "handfeeding" the baby, but they are just jiggling a syringe full of food around in its beak and not pushing any in and showing how the baby is crying. I don't doubt that that poor bird is sick, suffering and in pain, but for gosh sakes, they're not even feeding it so maybe they're starving it for the sake of a show too. I never really watched any more videos more closely, but it just goes to show how their propaganda can make people focus on the suffering animal and overlook an obvious discrepancy. Disgusting...
