One Eye Jack

This is one of the BRB's I produced this year. Unfortunately he's missing an eye, so we're keeping him for a pet. Just recently switched to rats from mice and seems to be doing fine

Here's the other side of his head, perfectly normal

Re: One Eye Jack

Awe he's adorable..
How does he do on his own? With eating and such? Does it give him a hard time? Or does he manage well?

Re: One Eye Jack

Does he sway his head back and forth to get a better view with his one eye? Or does he act totally normal in his movements?

Re: One Eye Jack

No issues at all tracking and eating. He finally switched over to rats so we're hoping he'll start putting some size on. He's about 2/3 the size of his litter mates who started on rat pinks from birth.

Re: One Eye Jack

That's sad, but pretty neat too. Glad he's doing well.

Re: One Eye Jack

When I was at the expo 2 years ago there was a guy there with a boa that had no eyes!
It was the craziest thing ever. We asked what the temperament was like and he said she was the sweetest snake he ever owned. People told him that it would always be sketchy because it couldn't see but it was the complete opposite. He thinks because it didn't see peoples rapid movements in front of it he was always calm. He thinks that his sense of smell must have been heightened too.

Last year at the expo we saw the same guy and asked about the snake. He said he still had it and it was growing fast and doing really well. I tried to talk him into selling it to me but he wants too keep it.

Re: One Eye Jack

He's not any snappier than the rest of the babies. His feeding response isn't quite as high but it's good enough. I won't be breeding him but I'll give him a very nice home

Re: One Eye Jack

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like he doesn't even have an eye socket on his blind side. Goes to show how useful those heat sensing pits are.

Re: One Eye Jack

I didn't notice the eye was missing for a month because the socket is scaled normally.
