new brb not acting right

so ive had my brb for maybe 2mnths possibly less but since i got him hes moved around alot and been very active...he started shedding about a week or so ago and started scratching his head on everything in his tank he finished shedding and is still scratching but has also stopped moving around his tank and doesnt soak anymore in his water, i actually had to resort to poking him repeatedly just to get him to move....not sure what i should do or if i should just give it more time

Re: new brb not acting right

leave him alone, he's fine, soaking and scratching is a result of the shedding.

Re: new brb not acting right

I would let him be. Brbs are secretive snakes, and are most active during the evening and over night hours. So there's a good chance you aren't even awake when he's moving around. My adult spends most of the daylight hours in his hide, and at night, when I'm in bed, he wil move about. How old is yours?

Re: new brb not acting right

He was moving around initially because he was in a new enviroment and was exploring it. Now he's used to his new home, and has become acclimated to it, so that might be another reason he's not as active.

When I bought my brb he was nowhere near 18 inches.I have seen quite a few brb babies and none were near that size.So I would not worry about his size too much.

Re: new brb not acting right

my guy was about 18 inches at 3 months of age. Its possible yours was underfed so he didn't grow, but I wouldn't worry about it. I RARELY see him out and about, usually its just his head poking out that I see. He's in his hide right now and he's going blue.
