Re: hey!

Welcome to the forum! Can't wait to see pics. I don't know how long you've had your sand boa but its common for snakes to not eat for a few weeks after getting a new home. Keep us posted.

Re: hey!

I will definitely post pics when he is established.
Any tips on feeding a baby sand boa? He is about one month old. Last night I tried "braining" a f/t pinky and putting it on a plastic dish in his cage overnight. I showed it to him, then left it alone. :/ the pinky is still there this morning.
Any advice? I just want to make sure my little guy is settling in ok.

Re: hey!

Welcome to the forum
It's completely natural for them to be uninterested in food the first couple weeks after moving..
Can't wait till we can see some pics

Re: hey!

Whilst we would all love to see pics it is important that the snake goes undisturbed between feeding attempts, stress like being handled will stop it eating anyway. Only try to feed once every week and in between attampts do nothing apart from spot clean and top up waterbowl.

If you post your setup details, temps, substrate, etc etc etc then othe KSB owners will be able to help you out with anything that might be slightly off that could stop the snake eating also.

Re: hey!

Hey there, welcome!!! Young Sand Boas are known to be difficult to get started immediately on f/t, so you might have to start him on live for the first few feedings, before switching over to f/t. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask

And as Rob said, it is very important for a new animal to feel secure in its new surroundings, so i would definitely wait a week before offering food again.

Was Lunar eating for his previous owner before you purchased him?

Re: hey!

Hey as for my setup, he is in a plastic snake enclosure (approx 12x18) in aspen bedding. A small heat pad on one side (one of those zoo med ones that keeps a constant heat) then a bowl with a little bit of water on the cool side. And some fake plants on the warm side (more to make his cage look nicer, but he likes to crawl under them) and a small hide in the middle-left of his cage.

I keep his cage under my bed but towards the side of my bed away from the wall. I did this b/c I live in a college dorm where we hold strange hours and I read that the artificial light at strange hours could disturb him. My room also does not get much natural light (I'm in a basement room...meh, sucks.) but I read that this does not matter since they like to stay in the substrate anyways. Does it seem that the enclosure is set up properly?

Also, I found a place that sells live pinkies and am going to try to feed him that on weds.
Any suggestions on how to feed it so he eats it?
