Future Snake
I have had some experience as a snake owner and I am looking to get a new breed in the distant future. I would like to hear any suggestions on a colorful exotic breed that would be a good choice. Prefereblly one that is not venomous and one that is a large but not burmese large.

Re: Future Snake
If you like burmese pythons, and retics, there is always dwarf burms (max 6-7 feet long) and Super dwarf retics (Max at 7 feet long)
If you are against them, Brazilian rainbow boas, Taiwan Beauty snakes (not blue beauty) and Colombian rainbow boas make excellent choices.

Re: Future Snake
Carpet python are a really good choice. Dumeril Boa get about 5 to 6 feet. If you want a fat but short snake Borneo and Blood are good choices. They get fat like Burmese, but only about 5 to 6 feet.

Re: Future Snake
I have Taiwans but I should be getting my retics in October.
Super dwarf retics and dwarf burms (under 8 feet) have slimmer bodies then their fullsize brothers.

Re: Future Snake
Jungle carpet python, or if you don't mind shelling out a bit more dough...a jaguar carpet python. The ones with Irian Jaya blood in them get shockingly yellow as they mature.
Other good choices are rainbow boas, tiger rat snakes (Spilotes), and red-tail green rat snakes. The rat snakes can be fast and nippy, but they are fun snakes to work with.

Re: Future Snake
I forgot, I also have a northern water snake, and an asian water monitor. (Not sure if the monitor is going to make it but I'm trying my best.

Re: Future Snake
If you're looking for something fairly large and colourful, tiger rat snakes might be right up your alley! They're beautiful!
