New from Bangkok

Hi, I came in response to a trackback to my site and thought I might introduce myself. My name is Jonathan and I love field herping. I've heavily involved in NAFHA and try to active in conservation issues. I've done most of my herping on the west coast of the US, but also have spent time in Missouri, the east coast, Central America, and Asia. I've been living in Bangkok for the last year and am halfway done completely an online field guide to Bangkok's herps. I love the science aspect, but my only contributions have been teaching and a few distribution notes for new lizard populations. I used to keep herps (especially when I taught), but it's not practical right now. Nice to meet ya'all!

Re: New from Bangkok

I like the Bay Area a lot, even though I haven't been there that much. I didn't want to be any more specific on the location than that because they're an endangered species.

Besides the alameda racer (which I was really, really happy and a little bit lucky to get) here are a few others from my 2-day trip there last year:

Also saw california slender salis, gabilian mountain slender sali, arboreal sali, california giant sali, rough-skinned newts, california red-legged frogs, foothill yellow-legged frogs (tads), sierra chorus frogs, bullfrogs, western toads, western spadefoot toads, california whiptails, fence lizards, sagebrush lizard, san francisco alligator lizard, and california alligator lizard. I was really impressed with all the variety that could be found in a place that you don't hear about being a herper target. Disappointed that I didn't land a California glossy though!
