Newbie - snake in a week, what to get?

Hello all!

I'll begin to introduce myself by saying that I had a corn snake about 10 years ago. Life is now allowing me to own a pet once again, and it's looking like my snake fascination won't die.

I've looked at a bunch of breeds online, and I definitely have a liking for pretty carpet pythons. If there was a deterrent to this particular snake it would be my worry of it growing into an intimidating, tough to approach type of animal. I'd get it from as a baby (after test handling it) and would assume that if I handle it a couple times a week, it would never grow into something I was afraid to approach (lol)

If any of you were looking for a gorgeous, 4-6 ft snake that would be easy to approach and handle, what would you pick up?

A Carpet Python, keep in mind each snake within the same species will vary temperament wise... I have a angel of a Carpet Python, but ive heard of nasty ones. If you like Carpets and like them more once you've been exposed to them, then go with that. They are awesome snakes there are several owners on here with Carpets as well. Hopefully they will see this and provide information for you as well.

Carpet pythons pass the 6 foot mark dont they? I'm not aware of a breed/locale that doesn't.
Ball pythons, (this next one gets a little bigger and is verry arboreal but stays with the girth of a golf ball) Taiwan beauty snakes and rainbow boas

I would say brb, as they stay reasonably slender.. As long as your willing to keep a good eye on their humidity.... My female brb is about 1yr 10 months n has just passed the 4 ft mark now. Thays on a 14 day feeding routine..
