tired of the harrassment!

I love snakes ! Yup and tarantulas and scorpions , yup , lizards and turtles and amphibians ! I love them and im tired of all the non herp peeps and their comments about how creepy that is and how i should get rid of them!!!! Darn tired , just had to vent to some body who'd understand! I think all the rest of the world is weird for not liking them so there!

Just tell people you own a dog and 3 cats if you dont like the response you get.

Re: tired of the harrassment!

You could also keep all herp related objects in a herp room.
My grandmother is terrified of snakes, she sees a picture of one and she freaks out and has nightmares (bad prank as a kid) if you know something will bother a person simply don't tell them.
She knows i work with them and that i work at a reptile zoo, she makes sure i wash up and im in clean clothes when i come over, and i never mention them around her. Be polite to the misinformed and if they are open to it try and inform them the best you can.

I really don't care what other people think. If they don't like it, then don't come over!

Re: tired of the harrassment!

We have 9 reptiles in our living room and a cockroach colony in the kitchen - people that dont like it have to stay in the hallway!

We also have 2 guinea pigs and a hamster in the living room and 2 cats and a dog free roaming - more like a zoo than a house

Nice. I can vibe will all but the breeder mice in the kitchen.

My nose is really sensitive to the smell of rodents. I couldn't have that around while I'm preparing food. Gaging just thinking about it.

But the 21 snakes and the dogs are cool stuff! I like it ^.^

lol They really don't smell. I also have a very sensitive nose!

I have 4 groups so only 4 adult males. They are cleaned out once a week but the bedding I use really helps keep smells away. I use Megazorb (horse bedding) it's great stuff

Infact my daughters hamster smelt much much worse!

Re: tired of the harrassment!

I try and get most people who are afriad of my snakes to just come hold my milksnake and see how harmless she is! Usually they will and then ask you 10000000 questions about snakes! i got my mom, who was terrified of snakes, to hold her and she comes over all the time to see the snake
